Mark Twain's (Burlesque) Autobiography and First Romance
Mark Twain's (Burlesque) Autobiography and First Romance, published in 1871, is a collection of two stories: 'First Romance' and 'A Burlesque Autobiography.' The former originally appeared in The Express in 1870, while the latter is a fictional narrative that humorously departs from Twain's actual life. Notably, the book features illustrations that satirize the Erie Railroad Ring, although they are unrelated to the text. Twain himself was not fond of this work and later destroyed the printing plates.
