A Calendar of Wisdom

A Calendar of Wisdom, compiled by Leo Tolstoy between 1904 and 1910, is a daily devotional and philosophical anthology that features 366 entries, one for each day of the year. Each entry includes curated quotations from influential thinkers spanning 25 centuries, such as Buddha, Lao-Tzu, Epictetus, Kant, Emerson, and Thoreau, alongside Tolstoy's own reflections. The work explores profound themes including faith, love, conscience, self-improvement, death, wisdom, and the essence of a good life. Tolstoy regarded this compilation as his most significant contribution to literature and philosophy. This edition is the Lex English translation from the original Russian, making Tolstoy's insights accessible to a broader audience.
