Sleeper Awakes
The Sleeper Awakes is a dystopian novel by H.G. Wells, published in 1910. It follows a man who falls into a deep sleep for two hundred years, awakening in a drastically altered London where he has become the richest man due to compound interest. As a self-proclaimed socialist, he is horrified to find his ideals have been corrupted, and he faces a society that idolizes him while being controlled by those who exploit his legacy. The novel critiques capitalism and explores themes of power and social justice.
