Story of the Days to Come
Published in 1897, 'Story of the Days to Come' by H. G. Wells is a novella set in early 22nd century London. After a failed attempt to manipulate Elizabeth's feelings through hypnosis, the couple elopes, leading them on a journey through the stark contrasts of London society and its darker underbelly.
