Far from Home
Johnny Melland is adrift in the void. One moment he's piloting the rocket Able Jake through a routine mission; the next, a meteor collision has torn him from his craft and hurled him into the suffocating silence of space. He's alone, untethered, and running out of oxygen. But Johnny isn't ready to become another casualty of the cosmos. Fighting panic and the crushing emptiness, he crafts an improbable escape: a jury-rigged parachute from a waste disposal cylinder, hoping to fall back to Earth rather than drift forever into oblivion. This is survival at its most desperate and inventive, a story that captures the fragile boundary between human resolve and the indifferent universe.
