The Story of Lutheran Missions

Published in 1917 to mark the quadricentennial of the Reformation, this volume documents the ambitious missionary endeavors of the Lutheran Church across continents and decades. Singmaster traces the dedication of men and women who carried their faith into challenging territories, from the early American frontier to distant international fields, recounting both their triumphs and the considerable obstacles they faced. The book serves as both a celebration of missionary courage and a careful historical record, offering readers insight into how one denomination sought to fulfill its evangelical calling during a transformative period in global religious history. For students of American religious history, scholars of missionary movements, or anyone seeking to understand the roots of Lutheran presence in various regions, this early 20th century account provides essential context and narrative.
