The Secret Commonwealth of Elves, Fauns & Fairies

In 1692, a Scottish minister vanished on a moonlit walk through the Highlands. Robert Kirk had spent decades documenting his parishioners' encounters with the "Good People" - fairies, wraiths, and spirits that haunted the liminal spaces between worlds. His remarkable manuscript, left unfinished at his death, offers an unprecedented window into a Scotland where the supernatural was not superstition but lived experience. Kirk approached his subjects with a scholar's precision and a clergyman's theological framework, investigating second sight, doppelgangers, and the invisible beings that shared the Highlands with mortals. This is not a collection of fairy tales but something far stranger: a meticulous record of how an entire culture understood the borderlands between the seen and unseen. The circumstances of Kirk's own disappearance - rumored to be a fairy abduction - lend his words an uncanny weight. For anyone drawn to the forgotten edges of history, to the way our ancestors truly lived with mystery, this text remains indispensable.
