Te Tohunga: The Ancient Legends and Traditions of the Maoris

Te Tohunga, published in 1907 by W. Dittmer, is a collection of Maori myths and oral traditions that preserves the cultural heritage of the Maori people of New Zealand. The book details their gods, ancestors, and mythological narratives, including the creation of mankind through Tiki and Marikoriko. Dittmer's reflections on his experiences with local Maori elders highlight the significance of these stories in understanding the world and the impact of modernization on their preservation.
