While the evidence of old beetle attacks throughout the yellow pine belt in the Lake Fork-Dry Gulch region goes back for a considerable period, indicating a more or less continuous endemic condition, there at least was one small epidemic which occurred in about 1903 to 1910, through which more than one million feet of timber was destroyed.
