Pecan Diseases and Pests and Their Control

For pecan growers, few things are more devastating than watching an orchard succumb to disease or infestation. This comprehensive guide arms you with the knowledge to protect your trees and ensure a healthy, profitable harvest. The authors walk you through every major threat: fungal diseases like scab, brown leaf spot, and vein spot, alongside voracious insects including the pecan nut casebearer, hickory shuckworm, and pecan weevil. Each problem gets detailed treatment: how to identify it, what causes it, and most importantly, how to stop it. The book goes beyond mere diagnosis, delving into the environmental conditions that favor disease development and the cultural practices that can prevent outbreaks before they start. You'll find practical spray schedules, specific fungicide and insecticide recommendations, and the kind of grounded advice that only comes from years in the field. Whether you're managing a commercial orchard or tending a handful of trees, this book is an essential tool in your agricultural toolkit.
