The Milky Way is F. Tennyson Jesse's debut novel, originally serialized in 1913 as The Adventures of Viv. It follows the life of Vivian Lovel, a struggling Cornish painter and model, as she navigates her twenty-first year filled with adventures in London and France. The story features her unique bond with fellow traveler Peter Whymperis, as they face various challenges, including caring for a baby they rescue and working with a repertory troupe. This novel is notable for being Jesse's only completed work before a tragic accident led her to a darker writing style in later years.
