Epistle of Jude

A fierce, warning cry from the earliest days of Christianity, the Epistle of Jude is barely 300 words long but burns with urgent intensity. Written to believers confronting teachers who had crept in unnoticed, denying Christ and perverting grace into license, Jude mounts a relentless assault on apostasy. He recalls the exodus from Egypt, the fallen angels bound in darkness, the Sodom and Gomorrah firestorm, and the biblical villains Cain, Balaam, and Korah as evidence that God does not spare the rebellious. Yet this is no mere doom-saying. Jude pivots from terrifying examples to tender instruction: build yourselves up in the most holy faith, keep yourselves in God's love, rescue the drowning and pity the snared. One of the shortest books in the New Testament, Jude reads less like a letter and more like an alarm bell rung in a sleeping church. It endures because every generation faces the same question: when false teaching spreads, will you contend for the faith or drift with the current?
