Text(s): Historia regum Britanniae, Hec sunt nomina Regum Anglie et tempora regni illorum Kings of Britain, D[e Re]gibus Anglie post conquestum Kings of Britain, Prophetia de Rege Edwardo iii et de sequela sua Prophecy, Incipit prologus fratris Nicholai Trevet de ordine predicatorum in Annales Regum Anglie qui a Comitibus Andegavensibus suam traxerunt originem secundum lineam masculinam, Treatise on Chess, De disciplina clericali. Description: ff. 54 - Bound, ca. 1840, in tan calf. - A note, s. XV, on f. 37v "Dominus Nicholaus" may refer to an owner or to the Trevet text completed on f. 37 recto. The 2 parts were probably brought together by the time John Egerton (1622-86), 2nd Earl of Bridgewater wrote the early Bridgewater pressmark on f. 2, "M:1/3." Additional Bridgewater pressmarks "34 C 9" and "1121" (corrected from 512) were given at a later date and are still in use. Acquired by Henry E. Huntington with the Bridgewater Library in 1917. - C. W. Dutschke with the assistance of R. H. Rouse et al., Guide to Medieval and Renaissance Manuscripts in the Huntington Library (San Marino, 1989). De Ricci, 137-38. Part 1: ff. 1-37v. Description: - Paper - 4 watermarks: 1 unidentified, the others Monts, similar to Briquet 11894 (Genoa 1430), 11696 (Florence 1424), 11662 (Florence 1432). - 223 x 294 mm - Written space: 235 × 165 mm. The book begins and ends defectively; quire structure is lost, due to remounting of the leaves on stubs. Evidence of cropped catchwords on ff. 5v, 13v, 14v, 17v, 29v; 2 columns of 45-46 lines. Part 2: ff. 38-54v. Description: - Paper - Hache, similar to Briquet 7514 (Genoa 1383) - 223 x 294 mm - The book begins and ends defectively; quire structure is lost, due to remounting of the leaves on stubs. Text 1 of this part, leaves signed a-h in the gutter on the recto; its written space 218 × 125 mm, in up to 42 lines of verse and prose. Text 2 of this part, written space 218 × 145 mm, in 48-52 long lines in a different anglicana hand.
