A House of Pomegranates is a collection of fairy tales, written by Oscar Wilde, that was published in 1891 as a second collection for The Happy Prince and Other Tales (1888). This collections includes the following tales: The Young King, The Birthday of the Infanta, The Fisherman and his Soul, and The Star-child. The stories are about love, youthful beauty, compassion and suffering. Jessie M. King is known for her Art Nouveau style (Glascow School) drawings. Her individual style led her to become one of the most successful illustrators and designers of her time. She produced this illustration in Paris, newly inspired by batik printing and the Ballets Russes.
