Binding: tree calf; gold fillets on boards; double lettering-piece; gold-tooled spine; all edges stained green; marbled paper end-papers; trimmed to 21 cm. Vol. 4-6 have water stains. Binder's error: v. 9 front board attached in the back; ex-libris upside-down. Some volumes crudely repaired; rebacked with tape. Library's ex-libris engraved by P.R. Maverick on front paste-down, v. 6; No. 298 in MS, black ink. The Index, published separately in 1767, was considered by the library v. 13 of the main work. Listed in 1789 catalogue, p. 36, 8°; "bot. by E. Greswold [17]89"; in 1793 catalogue, p. 44, No. 293, 13 vols. [sic], and in the First ledger as Guthrie's world.
