Jami

Jami was a prominent Persian poet and Sufi mystic, whose works significantly contributed to the rich tapestry of Persian literature during the Timurid period. Born in the city of Neyshabur, he was deeply influenced by the spiritual and philosophical teachings of Sufism, which permeated his poetry. Jami's most notable works include 'Yusuf and Zulaikha,' a romantic narrative poem that draws on the biblical story of Joseph and Potiphar's wife, and 'Salaman and Absal,' which explores themes of love and the quest for divine truth. His poetry is characterized by its lyrical beauty, intricate metaphors, and profound spiritual insights, making him a key figure in the tradition of Persian literature. Jami's literary significance extends beyond his poetry; he played a crucial role in the cultural and intellectual life of his time, engaging with various literary forms and genres. As a scholar, he was well-versed in Islamic theology, philosophy, and literature, which allowed him to weave complex ideas into his works. His influence can be seen in later Persian poets and writers, and he is often regarded as the last great poet of the classical Persian literary tradition. Jami's legacy endures, as his works continue to be studied and appreciated for their artistic merit and spiritual depth, securing his place as a central figure in the history of Persian literature.

“To say that one waits a lifetime for his soulmate to come around is a paradox. People eventually get sick of waiting, take a chance on someone, and by the art of commitment become soulmates, which takes a lifetime to perfect.””

Venus in Arms

“Just because something isn't a lie does not mean that it isn't deceptive. A liar knows that he is a liar, but one who speaks mere portions of truth in order to deceive is a craftsman of destruction.””

“Grudges are for those who insist that they are owed something; forgiveness, however, is for those who are substantial enough to move on.””

Salomé: In Every Inch In Every Mile
