Born in Paris, Naudé was educated in the humanities and developed a profound interest in the organization and preservation of knowledge. His most significant work, 'Advis pour dresser une bibliothèque' (Advice on How to Set Up a Library), published in 1627, provided a comprehensive guide on the principles of library science and the importance of collecting and cataloging books. This work not only influenced the development of libraries in France but also laid the groundwork for modern librarianship. He served as the librarian to Cardinal Mazarin, where he had access to a vast collection of works and was able to promote the importance of knowledge in governance and society.
