The Two Gentlemen of Verona is a comedy by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written between 1589 and 1593. The play follows two friends, Valentine and Proteus, who become romantically entangled with the same woman, Silvia, leading to complications in their friendship and loyalty. Notable for being one of Shakespeare's earliest works, it introduces themes of love, friendship, and infidelity, and features the first instance of a heroine disguising herself as a boy. The play is also recognized for its memorable character Launce and his dog, Crab.
