The Eleven Comedies, Volume 2

The Eleven Comedies, Volume 2 features translations of several comedic plays by Aristophanes, a prominent playwright of ancient Greece, written during the classical period. This volume includes 'The Wasps,' which humorously explores the relationship between an elderly man obsessed with his role as a juryman and his son who seeks to liberate him from this fixation. Aristophanes uses satire to critique Athenian society, particularly its legal system and social customs, showcasing the absurdities of litigation through clever characters and engaging plots. This work is notable for its cultural significance and remains a vital part of the Western literary canon.
