Napoleón en Chamartín, published in 1898, is the fifth novel in Benito Pérez Galdós's National Episodes series. The story follows Gabriel de Araceli, a young man from Cádiz, as he arrives in Madrid in pursuit of his beloved Inés amidst the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars. With the French Emperor Napoleon planning to conquer Madrid and install his brother Joseph Bonaparte as king, the citizens prepare for battle.
