An Antarctic Mystery
Jules Verne plunges us into the icy grip of the Southern Ocean with *An Antarctic Mystery*, a direct sequel to Edgar Allan Poe's chilling *The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym*. We join Mr. Jeorling, a well-heeled American naturalist, who finds himself entangled in the obsessed quest of Captain Len Guy. Guy, haunted by the vanishing of his brother William and his ship, the *Jane*, during a previous Antarctic expedition (the very one Pym joined), is convinced of a supernatural truth behind the mystery. Jeorling, initially a detached observer, is soon swept into the captain's desperate search, charting a course through treacherous waters and the unknown terrors of the Antarctic continent itself, hoping to uncover the fate of the lost crew and confront the very edge of the world.
