A Start in Life
Oscar Husson, a young man whose boundless vanity far outstrips his actual talent, embarks on a series of misadventures engineered by his doting, yet misguided, mother. From a disastrous attempt to secure a prestigious position through family connections to a humiliating fall from grace in a lesser role, Oscar consistently proves his own worst enemy. His only remaining path, a reluctant conscription into the military, becomes his crucible, forcing him to confront his inflated ego and finally forge a character worthy of the 'start in life' he so desperately craves.
