Robert Greene (playwright)

Robert Greene (1558–1592) was an English playwright, poet, and pamphleteer of the Elizabethan era. A contemporary of Shakespeare, Marlowe, and Nashe, he is best known for his prose romances and his autobiographical pamphlets about London's criminal underworld. His deathbed pamphlet Greene's Groats-Worth of Wit contains the earliest known reference to Shakespeare as an actor and playwright.
