Queen's Necklace
The Queen's Necklace, written by Alexandre Dumas and published in the 19th century, is a historical fiction novel centered around the Diamond Necklace Affair that scandalized the court of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI in 1784-85. This event played a significant role in discrediting the monarchy before the French Revolution, highlighting the stark contrast between the lavish lifestyle of the royal family and the struggles of the French populace due to poor harvests and rising bread prices.
