Mildred and Elsie

Mildred Keith has spent the summer at her uncle's grand estate, Roselands, and now faces an impossible choice: return to her childhood home in Indiana or stay surrounded by the family and suitors who have captured her heart. Two men seek her hand, yet her thoughts belong only to Charlie Landreth, the boy she left behind. As autumn turns to winter, Mildred must navigate the treacherous waters of Victorian courtship, where a woman's affection must sometimes bow to duty and family expectation. Through sleepless nights and trembling moments of hope, she holds fast to a love that seems always just beyond her reach. When crisis strikes and Elsie, her sweet young cousin, falls dangerously ill, Mildred discovers what truly matters: the people who need her, and the courage to wait for the happiness she deserves. This is nineteenth-century domestic drama at its most heart-wrenching and satisfying, a tale of patience rewarded and love that endures against all odds.
