Litigants
Litigants is a play by Jean Racine, first performed in 1668 in Paris and later at Versailles. This work is a French adaptation of Aristophanes' 'The Wasps' and blends elements of comedy and farce. Racine's personal experiences with the legal system influenced the play, as he incorporated complex legal terminology that he found perplexing during a lawsuit he was involved in. The play critiques the absurdities of the legal profession and society's obsession with litigation.
