Linda Tressel

Published in 1868, 'Linda Tressel' by Anthony Trollope tells the story of a young woman living under the oppressive rule of her aunt, Madame Staubach, in Nuremberg. Forced into an unwanted engagement with the much older Peter Steinmarc, Linda longs for freedom and finds herself in love with the disreputable Ludovic Valcalm. The novel explores themes of autonomy, societal expectations, and the struggle for personal happiness against familial pressure.
