Lady Anna
Written by Anthony Trollope and published in 1874, "Lady Anna" explores the life of Lady Anna, the daughter of Josephine Murray, who faces legal and social turmoil due to her father's questionable marital status. The narrative delves into themes of legitimacy, class, and the struggles of women in a patriarchal society, as Josephine fights for her rights against the Earl Lovel, who claims to have a previous wife. The novel highlights Anna's conflict between her noble duties and her love for a radical tailor, making it a significant commentary on enforced marriage and social inequality in 19th-century England.
