Kept in the Dark
Kept in the Dark is a novel by Anthony Trollope, published in 1882, that examines the complexities of love and jealousy within the confines of societal expectations. The story follows Cecilia Holt, whose engagement to Sir Francis Geraldine leads to a tumultuous relationship marked by neglect and self-doubt. As Cecilia grapples with her feelings and the consequences of her choices, the narrative delves into themes of personal identity and the impact of jealousy on marriage. This work, published in serial form, reflects Trollope's keen observations of 19th-century English social life.
