Candida

Candida is a comedy by George Bernard Shaw, first published in 1898 as part of his collection 'Plays Pleasant.' The play centers on clergyman James Morell, his wife Candida, and the young poet Eugene Marchbanks, who competes for her affection. Shaw critiques Victorian ideals of love and marriage while incorporating his Fabian Socialist views, making the work notable for its exploration of women's desires and societal expectations.
