Betty Wales Decides: A Story for Girls

It's 1911, and Betty Wales has her future mapped out: finish her senior year at Harding College, tend to her small business crafting whimsical figurines called ploshkins, and sail into adulthood on her own terms. Then everything tilts. A business slump forces her to reconsider her plans, and a new pupil arrives in the form of Montana Marie O'Toole, a wild card with an unconventional background and enough personality to shake up the entire campus. As Betty navigates the chaos of mentoring this unforgettable girl while holding together her own ambitions, she discovers that the hardest choices aren't about what to do, but who to become. Warm, witty, and suffused with the particular magic of early collegiate life, this is a story about the moment when a girl stops waiting for life to happen and starts deciding what happens next.
