Betty Wales & Co.: A Story for Girls

Betty Wales has just graduated from college, expecting a carefree summer before whatever comes next. Instead, her father confesses the family finances are in trouble, and Betty faces her first real adult problem: how to help when you've never had to. She rallies her closest friends, Madeline and Babbie, and together they open a tea-room, determined to prove they can do more than attend parties and study for exams. What follows is earnest and often funny, as three young women discover that running a business is nothing like running a college club. There are demanding customers, wobbly finances, and the quiet terror of genuinely depending on yourself. But there are also the joys of partnership: someone to brainstorm with at midnight, to celebrate small victories, to notice when you're about to give up. This is the next chapter after graduation not about finding yourself, but about becoming someone your family can count on.
