Erwin Rohde

Erwin Rohde was a prominent German classical scholar renowned for his contributions to the study of ancient Greek culture and philosophy. Born in Hamburg, he was the son of a physician and developed a passion for philology early in his academic career. Rohde studied under Friedrich Wilhelm Ritschl and formed a significant friendship with Friedrich Nietzsche, with whom he shared a deep intellectual bond during their time at the universities of Bonn and Leipzig.
