Wyn's Camping Days; Or, The Outing of the Go-Ahead Club

Summer 1912. Wynifred Mallory has convinced the adults to let the Go-Ahead Club camp at Lake Honotonka, and she's barely containable. The girls pitch their tents, the Busters set up nearby, and the mischief begins immediately: stolen provisions, midnight pranks, and retaliations that escalate with cheerful ferocity. But Wyn's summer takes an unexpected turn when she extends kindness to a quiet, troubled girl named Christine and stumbles into a genuine mystery. Ancient statues of extraordinary value lie sunk in the lake, and Christine's father stands accused of their theft. What begins as a lark of friendship and freedom becomes a test of loyalty and nerve. Marlowe delivers the particular magic of early twentieth-century girls' fiction: independent friends who plan and argue and adventure on their own terms, with or without the boys nearby.
