Published in 1870, 'Vingt mille lieues sous les mers' (Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea) is a science fiction novel by Jules Verne. It follows the adventures of Professor Pierre Aronnax, his servant Conseil, and Canadian harpooner Ned Land, who are captured by Captain Nemo aboard the submarine Nautilus. The novel is notable for its imaginative depictions of underwater exploration and advanced technology, including predictions of the Suez Canal and the Antarctic continent. It serves as a precursor to Verne's later work, 'L'Île mystérieuse.'
