Uncle Silas
Uncle Silas is a Victorian Gothic mystery novel written by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, published in 1864. It is recognized as one of the earliest examples of the locked room mystery sub-genre. While not primarily a supernatural tale, the novel incorporates elements of the occult and reflects Le Fanu's interest in Swedenborgian ideas. The story revolves around a young heiress who becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue and danger surrounding her enigmatic uncle.
