The Third Alarm: A Story of the New York Fire Department

The firehouse doors open onto a world of smoke, steel, and mortality. In 1890s New York, the FDNY runs toward what everyone else runs from, and young Bruce Decker wants nothing more than to wear his father's badge. Bruce arrives at the firehouse seeking the father he barely knew, a legendary fireman who died answering the Third Alarm. Chief Trask and his crew take in the boy, seeing Frank Decker's eyes in his face, but the road from orphan to firefighter requires more than legacy.
