The Complete Works of John Gower, Volume 2: The English Works

The Complete Works of John Gower, Volume 2: The English Works, published in the late 14th century, features the poetic narrative ''Confessio Amantis''. This work explores themes of love, morality, and societal issues through a confessional dialogue between a lover and the priest Genius. Gower's writings are significant in early English literature, often compared to Chaucer, as they blend wisdom and pleasure while critiquing the moral state of rulers and clergy of his time.
