Smalcald Articles
The Smalcald Articles, written by Martin Luther in 1537, summarize Lutheran doctrine in preparation for a meeting of the Schmalkaldic League. Although not adopted at the meeting, these articles became significant in the Lutheran tradition and were included in the Book of Concord in 1580 as one of the key confessions of faith. They reflect Luther's theological positions and his response to the Catholic Church's teachings during the Reformation.
