Old Kensington

Old Kensington is a novel by Anne Thackeray Ritchie, first published in 1873, that explores the early childhood of Dorothea 'Dolly' Vanborough and her brother George in the suburb of Kensington, London. The narrative delves into themes of innocence, familial bonds, and the bittersweet transition from childhood to adulthood, set against the backdrop of a changing urban landscape. Through vivid descriptions of their idyllic life and the complexities of memory and loss, Ritchie captures the nostalgia and emotional depth of growing up in a tranquil yet evolving environment.
