Erewhon
Step into the looking-glass world of Erewhon, where Samuel Butler, with a glint in his eye, invites us to question everything we hold dear about 'civilization.' Our intrepid explorer, Higgs, stumbles upon a hidden society beyond a treacherous mountain range, expecting fertile plains but finding instead a mirror — albeit a funhouse one — reflecting the absurdities of Victorian England back at him. Here, illness is a crime, crime is a sickness, and machines are outlawed as a grave existential threat. As Higgs attempts to navigate and document their peculiar customs, from their bizarre musical banks to their unsettling views on birth and death, he unwittingly exposes the illogical underpinnings of his own society's most cherished beliefs.
