
Countess Julie
Countess Julie is a naturalistic one-act play written by August Strindberg in 1888. It features three characters: Julie, a young noblewoman; Jean, her father's ambitious valet; and Kristin, the cook and Jean's fiancée. Set on Midsummer Eve, the play explores themes of class struggle and sexual tension, culminating in tragic consequences following an intimate encounter between Julie and Jean.
