The story follows Clara, the young heroine and narrator, as she seeks to uncover the truth behind her father's murder, a crime she was determined to solve since childhood. This volume wraps up her adventures and romances, featuring a cast of eccentric characters as she finally unravels the mystery. Blackmore is also known for his later work, Lorna Doone.
