Battling the Bighorn; Or, The Aeroplane in the Rockies

The sky has never been more dangerous. In this gripping early aviation adventure, two audacious young aeronauts Frank Graham and Phil Ewing launch their homemade monoplane, the Loon, into the untamed heavens above the Rockies. The novel opens mid-catastrophe: a thunderstorm rages around them as they navigate by compass through black visibility, fighting to keep their fragile aircraft aloft. What follows is a breathless pursuit of both the elusive bighorn sheep and the impossible dream of flight itself. These aren't pilots in silk scarves and goggles at established airfields they're resourceful young men building their own machines and testing the very limits of what the sky will permit. The Rocky Mountains become both adversary and playground as they venture where no aeroplane has gone before, courting disaster with every engine cough and wind shear. This is adventure at its most elemental: man against nature, ambition against physics, youth against the abyss.
