Published in 1893, 'La batalla de los Arapiles' is the tenth and final novel in the first series of Benito Pérez Galdós's 'Episodios Nacionales.' The story follows Gabriel Araceli during the pivotal Battle of Arapiles, which marked the end of French domination in Spain. Amidst the conflict, Gabriel embarks on a dangerous espionage mission to Salamanca, where he encounters the English intellectual Miss Fly, who becomes enamored with his ideals of honor and sacrifice.
