A Drake by George!

Captain Francis Drake arrives in the quiet village of Highfield with the same swagger that once commanded ships, convinced he can bring order to this sleepy corner of England with the same iron will that tamed oceans. His plans to seize control of the parish begin immediately, but the villagers are not so easily managed. Between his domineering demands and his long-suffering wife's quiet exasperation, his lazy nephew George providing endless frustration, and a cast of eccentric locals who thwart his every grand scheme, Captain Drake discovers that conquering a village requires different weapons than conquering seas. The comedy unfolds in the gap between his imposing self-image and the reality of village life, where his grand plans dissolve into misunderstandings, his authority is politely questioned, and his larger-than-life persona becomes the very thing that prevents him from achieving the respect he craves. Trevena writes with sharp observation and affection for his characters, creating a portrait of English village life where authority meets its match in stubborn, quirky resistance.
