Wishing Bridge

Wishing Bridge is a poem by John Greenleaf Whittier, an American Quaker poet known for his advocacy against slavery. Written in the 19th century, it reflects Whittier's lyrical style and themes of hope and longing. As a member of the Fireside Poets, Whittier was influenced by Scottish poet Robert Burns, and his work often explores social issues and human emotions. This poem was featured in the Fortnightly Poetry project on July 7, 2019, and is available in multiple recordings by LibriVox volunteers.
