Vampires of Space
In the empty stretches between stars, something hungers for metal. Commander John Hanson thought he knew the dangers of deep space, but nothing could have prepared him for the Electites, crescent-shaped entities that glow with an eerie red light and feed on the very hulls of spaceships. When the Ertak is sent to investigate the disappearance of two passenger vessels in an uncharted region of space, Hanson and his crew discover that some fates are worse than being lost forever. As the creatures begin to tear apart the ship, feeding on its metallic body piece by piece, the crew faces a terrifying question: how do you fight something that can consume your vessel from the outside in? Only the quick thinking of a young officer named Hendricks offers any hope, as he devises a desperate weapon from acidulated water to blast the creatures into oblivion. This is pure 1930s pulp energy, space as a genuinely alien and hostile wilderness, and the strange things that lurk in the void waiting for their next meal.
