Under a Veil: A Comedietta in One Act

A hotel room mix-up becomes the engine of charmed chaos in this spry Victorian comedietta. Charles Devereaux, a bachelor so disengaged he's barely present in his own life, discovers his room swapped with Lucy Mortimer's, and what starts as a logistical annoyance transforms into something far more interesting when Lucy reads his abandoned letter. Through the door that separates their adjacent chambers, witty barbs and misunderstandings fly back and forth, each exchange dismantling Charles's carefully constructed indifference. A veiled meeting forces both characters to confront not just each other, but their own assumptions about what love demands and what they're willing to admit they want. Roberts writes with the轻巧 touch of a master of the form, letting wit do the heavy lifting while quietly insisting that connection can emerge from the most absurd circumstances.
