Tommy Trot's Visit to Santa Claus

Tommy Trot dreams of something more than his quiet life. When he and his steadfast friend Johnny Stout harness their goats to a sled and set off toward the North, they imagine wonders. What they find exceeds every fantasy: Christmas Land, a realm of impossible color and ceaseless joy, where elves labor in cheerful purpose and the air hums with holiday magic. The boys witness preparations for the world's greatest gift-giving, face down a polar bear, and discover that courage means thinking not just of yourself but of others. Thomas Nelson Page, writing in an era when children's books still dared to be genuinely strange and wonderful, crafted something that bridges Victorian adventure tales with modern Christmas fantasy. For young readers hungry for enchantment, or adults seeking the particular magic of a childhood Christmas that exists now only in memory, this brief, whimsical odyssey delivers both adventure and the warm assurance that kindness finds its reward.
